On Ivan's want, Carolyn, Zed and Janel look into the case of Luke Martel, a sea plane pilot whose life has been turned upside down since the death of his photojournalist wife, Elena Martel, whose dead body has been cremated. Her death is not the issue, but what is is his public assertion that her ghost is still with him, almost like she is still alive. That belief has led to among other things him losing his job for fear of mental instability. Carolyn initially believes the ghost is solely his grief coping mechanism, much as she justifies her own occasional visions of Will. However she still can't make the scientific connection to the green scarfed woman she sees that she doesn't know. Beyond what Carolyn and the team can discover from Luke, she has to make him look deeper into his own current life for what is best for him.
